Bride Bans Friend Who Wants To Talk Politics At Wedding

By News Sep 21, 2020 | 7:42 AM

If there’s one thing we can all agree is a hot-button issue these days, it’s politics. It’s one of those subjects that can get people heated anytime, but with this being an election year, it’s even more divisive. And that’s why one bride-to-be is trying to avoid drama at her December wedding by asking people to steer clear of political conversations. But one of her guests has made it clear she plans to bring the subject up at the nuptials and the bride isn’t happy.

In a post to Reddit’s “Bridezillas” section, the woman explains that when she heard her friend’s plan to bring up politics at the event, she confronted her about it. She simply told her pal that discussing politics at a wedding isn’t the best idea and she’d love her to not do that. But her “guestzilla” told her she “can’t turn off her mind” from what’s happening in the country and can’t stop herself from bringing it up. So, the bride withdrew the friend’s invitation – as she hopes will be a “light hearted affair” where people can just relax and enjoy themselves.

But the banned bestie didn’t take the un-invite well at all. According to the post, she’s stopped talking to the bride and has been posting “passive aggressive” stories to Instagram about her. Now she’s asking Redditors if she’s in the wrong here and most users agree it’s fair to ask people to avoid controversial topics at a wedding. Some question who “plans” their conversations at an upcoming wedding and others assure her that she “did the right thing.”
