People Are Already Booking Digital Santa Visits

By News Sep 21, 2020 | 7:38 AM

We’re still enjoying the last smidge of summer before fall officially begins, but some people are already focused on the holidays. They won’t be heading to the mall and standing in line for the kids to talk to Santa this year, but like a lot of things, those visits are going virtual. Several companies that book events with St. Nick are encouraging people to sign up for their virtual or socially distant events now to beat the rush.

One of them, JingleRing, reports they’ve been getting requests from customers since August. They don’t officially open for bookings until November 1st, but their CEO and co-founder, Walt Greer, says, “Based on what we’re seeing, it’s about to get real busy.” And what’s not to love? Parents can score a personalized pre-recorded video message from Santa for $20 and a live virtual visit with him for just $25, which is less than the national average for a Santa mall photo package.

Photographers are also getting early interest in setting up holiday photo shoots. Alexis Mears, a photographer in Delaware says she’s had families asking about getting Christmas card photos months ago. “Everybody said, ‘We finally got to slow down and we need pictures because we’re finally together,’” her clients tell her. She expects her Christmas card shoots to sell out this year, which she’ll be doing while wearing a mask the entire time and so will her subjects, except when she’s snapping their pictures.
