Valentine’s Day is less than a month away and it’s time to start thinking about what to get your boo. A box of chocolates is a traditional favorite, but we’ve been there, done that, right? So if you’re looking for something a little different this year, why not indulge your Valentine’s savory side instead of their sweet tooth. Wisconsin Cheese is making that easy for us by offering limited-edition, personalized heart-shaped boxes of cheese. And the best part? They’re giving them away for free.
Wisconsin’s official dairy association is encouraging folks to nominate the cheese lover of their choice to get one of 500 gift boxes from “The State of Cheese.” It doesn’t have to be your romantic partner, you can nominate your friends, family and coworkers, too. “It’s the season of love, and this year we’re thinking beyond traditional symbols of romance for a more inclusive holiday that everyone can enjoy,” explains Suzanne Fanning, chief marketing officer for Wisconsin Cheese and senior vice president for the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin.
The heart-shaped boxes will contain five specialty Wisconsin cheeses, including a Chocolate Mascarpone, a Black Truffle Cheddar and a Maple Bourbon Cheddar. You can make your nominations at WisconsinCheese.com/ForTheLoveOfCheese and according to the official rules, you’ll need to write at least a 100-word explanation why you’ve chosen your nominee, but winners are being chosen at random. Multiple nominations are “encouraged” and you have until January 31st to get them in.
