By News Jan 19, 2021 | 10:59 AM

It’s safe to say that all of us have been a little stressed lately, but a new report reveals that folks in some states are way more stressed than others.

According to a new survey of 12,500 Americans (split evenly by state):

  • Folks in Missouri are the most stressed people in the United States.
  • It seems residents of Missouri spend three hours and 18 minutes each day stressing out.
  • Residents of Mississippi come in close behind, worrying three hours and 12 minutes each day, with those in West Virginia in third, worrying three hours and six minutes a day.
  • Overall, 72% of Americans say 2020 was the most stressful year they’ve ever experienced.
  • 57% are more stressed than they have ever been before.
  • 56% are more anxious than ever before.
  • Things Americans are stressing out about the most include:
    • Finances/their financial situation (41%)
    • COVID-19 and the ongoing pandemic (35%)
    • Politics and current news (29%)
    • Work/their job (21%)
    • Social life/personal relationships (19%)

And it doesn’t look like most people expect things to go back to normal anytime soon.

  • The average person doesn’t expect their stress and anxiety levels to return to a normal state for six months.
  • And 12% don’t think their normal anxiety and stress levels will ever return.
